Winelands Tour

Day Tour
Tour highlights:
  • Stellenbosch
  • Helshoogte Pass
  • Franschhoek
  • Wine tasting
Description:

This tour will delight all your senses: picture-perfect lush vineyards against a backdrop of majestic mountains; state-of-the-art wineries with award-winning wines to sample and savour; some of the best restaurants in the Western Cape for fine dining or a light but delectable lunch; a rich and fascinating history stretching back 350 years; and so much more!

The Cape Winelands covers a large area and its attractions are diverse, with nearly 150 wine farms in the Stellenbosch district alone. But we will choose just the right ones for you to visit. There’s a lot more than world-class wine and food on the menu though – gracious, historic Cape Dutch architecture, magnificent gardens open to the public and a wealth of art galleries will round off a day or two of a truly memorable experience.

Depending on the season and your preferences, a typical day would include two or three tastings at wineries, a visit to the charming town of Stellenbosch, scenic drives with vineyards and mountains as a constant backdrop, and the Cape’s very own ‘French corner’, Franschhoek, where 17th century French Huguenots brought their winemaking skills to help develop the wine industry in the Cape. A lunch venue will be carefully chosen – we have our favourites and, weather permitting, alfresco dining with breathtaking views is the ultimate way to relax and refuel.

Activities for children can also be included. Some wineries have playgrounds; there is the duck parade and chicken feeding; exploring edible flowers on a bio-fynbos wine farm in Franschhoek and picnics in summer.

TIP: Wine enthusiasts may want to spend two days in the Winelands, giving each day a fuller focus on the different regions. Overnighting in the Winelands is a luxury you should consider if you have the time. Waking up in a serene ambience and enjoying a bountiful breakfast while overlooking the verdant winelands landscape is a wonderfully restorative mini-break.
