The rock arch near Churchhaven in the Langebaan Lagoon (part of the West Coast National Park, one of my favourites, especially at this time of year) is one of the most photographed spots of the reserve. You have to park your car and walk down to the beach to see it – something people forget to do when visiting the reserve!
SanParks have recently upgraded the braai (barbecue) and picnic area at nearby Preekstoel with tables, alcoves and toilet facilities. Several bins have been provided on the beach to deal with all the litter generated by visitors.
I couldn’t help laughing when I saw this. This bin is so badly positioned – it’s a real fail. It is possible to photograph the arch and omit the bin but still, there’s enough space to place the bin elsewhere.
And the colours of the lagoon .. ever-changing, always lovely. This view is from Postberg, a small private section of the reserve which is only open during the months of August and September when the spring flowers are in bloom. This year the flowers were less spectacular than in other years so we expect next year to be absolutely gorgeous!
